About this course
Paddlers travel slowly and close to the water, which makes navigation both easier and more critical: the coast is always in view, and the water is always moving. This course teaches the navigation skills of the sea kayaker: planning a trip from put-in to take-out, paddling a compass course when visibility drops, reading landmarks and transits to hold a line across currents, and using tide tables to plan the best hours on the water. By the end, you will be able to plan a safe paddle anywhere, even when the fog rolls in.
