About this course

The sky has its own maps, rules, and highways, and any traveler can learn to read them. This course teaches the fundamentals of aviation navigation: how pilots read sectional aeronautical charts, how airspace is classified and symbolized, how VOR radio beacons guide aircraft when GPS fails, and how a cross-country flight is planned from start to finish. You will learn the same chart-reading skills that private pilots use, whether you are studying to fly, exploring flight simulators, or simply curious about the signs in the sky.
