The Water Cycle
By admin · An intermediate course on the journey of every drop: how water moves from ocean to cloud to rain to river and back again, where the planet's water actually lives, how clouds and precipitation are made, and how storms and climate change are speeding up the cycle.
About this course
The water you drink has been recycled by the Earth for billions of years. It evaporated from an ocean, traveled in a cloud, fell as rain, flowed down a river, and returned to the sea, and the same water will make the journey again and again. That continuous circulation, the water cycle, is the engine behind clouds, rain, snow, rivers, floods, droughts and the very weather we live in. This classroom explains each step of the cycle, evaporation, condensation, precipitation and runoff, where the planet's water is stored and how long it lingers, how clouds and storms are born from the moisture in the air, and how the warming climate is accelerating the whole cycle into more violent extremes.
